Grilled Honey Garlic Chicken Wings Recipe

Sticky chicken wings are a favorite of many. The honey garlic chicken wings I made are grilled and then topped with homemade sweet honey garlic sauce.

The sauce is Asian-inspired and somewhat reminiscent of a garlicky orange chicken dish. This recipe is savory, delicious, and charming. Get the napkins out; the wings were made to be messy!

You can make this recipe with whole wings or party-style wings. I use whatever is available. If you don’t own a grill, you can find the baking instructions and the notes below.

Honey Garlic Wing Sauce

Honey, garlic, low-sodium soy sauce, oil, and corn starch (thickener) make up the homemade honey garlic sauce. To thicken the sauce, you must heat it in a saucepan. Freshly squeezed lemons or orange juice can be used instead of orange juice. The sauce is sweet, garlicky, and citrusy at the same time.

To achieve the perfect consistency, cornstarch is essential. The sauce may be too runny without it. This step is crucial and flavorless.

How to grill Chicken Wings?

It is very easy to examine chicken wings. The best way to grill chicken wings is on medium heat, rotating in the same direction until each side is nicely crispy and golden. To prevent skin from sticking to the grill, I use olive oil to oil the grates of my chicken. This makes the entire process much easier and more efficient. You can use a digital thermometer for an internal temperature reading of 165°F.

How to Roast Chicken Wings?

You can bake the wings in your oven if you don’t have a grill. They’re just as delicious. You can roast chicken wings in the oven just like any other cut. Bake wings for 45 minutes on a large baking tray at 400°F or until fully cooked.

The wings will crisp up more if roasted on a cooling rack placed on a baking tray. This is not a requirement, but it’s a preference. Alternatively, flash broil can be done at the end.
